factory low back recliner?
How rare are the early low back recliners? Looks like std. mk1 seat but little while knob to recline. In body parts manual as optional seats 24A-1823/1824 thanks

Re: factory low back recliner?
When I went to see Nick at Min-E-Bitz a few years back (when he had the shop) he showed me one of them. Not sure they were fitted to UK cars ?
What does it look like underneath ? - I guess it's feasible to convert a Mk3 frame with Mk1 covers ?

I have seen 1 UK car with these, the Clubby automatic that was discussed inhere, and one of the registrer guys on MCR have (or had?) a MK III S with these seats.LDR209H wrote:When I went to see Nick at Min-E-Bitz a few years back (when he had the shop) he showed me one of them. The early MK III seats have a cut out on the bottom part (maybe a left over from the floor starter days?) but the later dont have this,
so maybe a early MK III / Clubby seat can be used ?

Re: factory low back recliner?
I actually had 2 pairs, a red pair like this one above and a black pair. I sold them all pretty cheaply as I recall. If memory serves me correctly both sets came from cars which were standard UK spec.
At least one pair went to a knowledgable contributor to this forum.

Re: factory low back recliner?
I've seen a few sets of these over the years - usually in Mk 1's but they did them in Mk 2 trim as well.
I think cars for the German market had them available as an option and Elf & Hornet seats were also available with the reclining option although I don't recall ever having seen any.

Re: factory low back recliner?
i always thought a typeof these was an option for cars ordered by people with mild dissability, to allow easy access to the rear on one side , i have one and its back folds forward flat onto the base and is operated from the outside on the pass side if my memory serves me right,

Re: factory low back recliner?
From what I posted on Specialist forum a few minutes ago.
Did some more digging though the microfiche (I wish my reader's screen was bigger -- it's slow going with a magnifying glass!) and the factory parts books.
I have found references to them in Elf/Hornet (Mk II and III), Mk II Saloons (except Cooper and S) including a Disabled Persons Vehicle, Mk II Countryman, and some Mk II Germany only cars.
I'm sure more digging would turn them up on MK I versions.
That's why my Mini Motto is: The more I know about Minis, the more I know I don't know about Minis.

the disabled cars (or 'ministry of supply' cars) also used non folding seats that had really nice adjusting mech which allowed the seat to move far further back than a standard seat.
they are great if you happen to be about 8 feet long (jc.... )
I guess it would depend on the recipitents disability as to what sort of seats there car was issued with.
please note, these are my own, individual sales, nothing whatsoever to do with my employer, minispares
