Hi all I've just started to restore a1964 super deluxe I've just had the shell blasted I'm going to paint it inside out but what finish should I go for on the under side ? From factory it looked like it was just painted so do I finish it like the out side or do I ad stone chip to it before painting ? I'm building the car so its completely standard and want to keep it as close as possible as it rolled off the the line will it affect the value is I stone chip the under side ?
Also dose anyone have the paint code for the green engine paint
Thanks

If you want a code for a quantity of paint to be mixed for you for the Engine green i usually mix up an old BL colour called Tundra, the BL code is HMF/094 the ICI code for it is 7921, it is a pretty good match for the later engine colour

The correct engine paint colour is BS223 - Mid Bronze Green

Hi,
In answer to the stone chip I had exactly the same conundrum last year on my '63 Super Delux.
I went for a compromise and did a slightly 'thinned' stone chip on the underside and inside the arches/inner wings.
This results in a less noticeable "texture" which was then obviously coated in body colour. I just spent some time diluting the stonechip and spraying it on a spare bit of metal till I was happy with the level of roughness/smoothness.
End of the day it comes down to what you want your car to do and what your happy with.
Il be disappearing into the Italian Mountains this summer and hopefully travelling the paths less wandered on gravely mountain roads... hence my desire for a bit of extra protection as I'm a touring kinda guy...
Others quite rightly choose to go for factory original and maximum auth' with the value that can bring.
You pays your money, you takes your choice !
Happy pondering ! J
