Austin Cooper S EAN 832D

Post by bryan »

Anyone know this car? Its for sale on Car and Classic.

A friend is considering it. Its a '66, in a '65 shell, was raced, some gaps in history. Nicely done, but....
Tried to upload file , but it was identified as " a possible attack vector" !

The ad reference is C372936

Thanks a lot

I do remember this car from when it was restored by a fella in Whitchurch, Bristol only a couple of years ago. It had 13" wheels on it then, Gp5 arches, chrome hinges, no trim and was about a third of that price. I've some photos of it then.
It's not unusual to find '66 registered cars that were manufactured in '65, just check the seller's Heritage Cert but there again it's pretty unusual to find any Mk1 Cooper S in it's original shell.

PS : If he doesn't like that one there are a couple of top notch restored Mk1 S's "on the market" at the moment if he's interested, one's a '65 in OEW/Black, the other's another red one. Both similarly priced though.

Thanks for that. The friend is being offered the car in P/Ex for a car he has sold. I will pass on your knowledge of its history, which will surprise him, but not us ......
