Hi. I am rebuilding a remote prior to fitting it to my new engine. Not done one of these before, can anyone help please.
I have a 1964 onwards type remote as depicted in this schematic:
http://www.somerfordmini.co.uk/eshop/in ... age&id=151
I'm having problems with the assembly of the gear stick end.
I have the following parts:
48 gear lever
54 distance piece
51 nylon flange
52 spring
50 split bush
53 gear lever retainer.
When I assemble and tighten it all up I can lift the gear lever up and down slightly and am worried it will rattle. The bush does not appear to be worn
Am I doing something wrong?
Cheers Daz

Re: Gearbox Remote Assembly
Mine has a spring (41) between 59 and 50. Strange it is not listed for the later setup?

Re: Gearbox Remote Assembly
I found the same spring fitted to mine when it was stripped down. I rebuilt it with the spring and the gear lever was very tight going left to right. So I thought that the spring should not be there as the diagrams show no spring on the 64 onwards assembly's.??

How's the bolt on the side that goes on the lever groove? That bolt adjusts the side movement.

Re: Gearbox Remote Assembly
Now I have bolted the remote to the gearbox it makes more sense. Remote is built with the spring beneath the nylon cup. All tightened up and the lever is biased over towards 1st and second gear. Feels right now
