Does anyone know the correct way to route the heater hose on a 1963 Cooper S.
On early ( I think up to 1964 ) 998 Coopers, the hose from the water valve on the cylinder head is a short piece of rubber pipe connected to a copper pipe running behind the rocker cover which joins the rubber pipe to the heater. Is this correct for 1071 S's too or is it just a rubber pipe all the way.
Correct way to route heater hose on 1071 S ???

The hose from the heater tap is straight to the heater, it's the other one that takes the copper pipe. I asked the same question a few months ago: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5288
Parnell states a clear change point somewhere before September 64 as mine has no copper section. I don't have the book with me to check.

Thanks for the replies. I have looked at the previous thread Ricardo. It would seem that on LHD cars the metal pipe is from the heater to the top radiator hose as you say. On RHD cars it is on the other pipe from the valve to the heater. ( The heater pipes cross over the car the other way round on RHD cars )
Interesting Jens Christian's pipe is not made of copper. Anyone else come across that ?
Trevor.

Hi Trevor, you are right on the RHD/LHD issue, I wasn't thinking. I have found an original copper pipe in the meantime, I can take pictures next Saturday and post them here for you to see.

If the early pipes were made from copper, and the later ones iron, my guess would be cost savings, as the one I found is from 1968/69.
