Anyone on here going to this? Surfblue 63 and i are intending go on the way back from the MCR's 12 car rally. Mr Harber coimg out to play i see.. :) :)

Sounds like a cracking race with Pete Morgan spinning at the chicane followed by Roger Godfrey at the same place a few laps later.

Yeh, difference was though that Pete Morgan's off didn't cost him a load of places.

It was a great day for the minis and me personally as Pete won outright in a car that I did a lot of work on.
The car had been in storage for a long time and it was previously run in the ICS historic championship by Nick Swift and Jason Stanley.
The car was converted to class D spec for HSCC regs by me and the rest was done by Pete.
The car is a real credit to him,and it all came together by having a well built engine by phill Hepworth set up properly by Pete,so anyone wanting their mini rolling roaded give mr Morgan a ring at balmure garage in Wrexham.

My new racer is coming along fine and hopefully we will be out for the gold cup in August.

The guy standing in front of Tim Harbours car is the legendary Charles Bernstein, Colin Flynn and I had a good chat with him about his special saloon racing days in the Maguire Minis.

Yes Pete he does his own heads.
They are a very nice job and obviously they work well too.

charles is a great bloke, he worked at rover in the gearbox section and has a huge understanding of mini gearboxes.


i learn something everytime i speak to him!

he can talk for an hour on something as small as the angle of the cone on baulkrings, very educational

Yes I agree a great day for the Cooper S, well done Peter Morgan, a great drive in the wet but what is the point of HSCC class D "hot rod" racing? A total dead end I suggest with no relevance whatsoever outside the HSCC, no basis for comparison with the broader picture of historic racing. Chuck your weber etc away Mr Morgan go Appendix K and put an entry in for Brands in June.

Well done Pete Crewes I say.

Well Done to all.

I think the HSCC has got the formula right.

There is a place for Class "D" cars, (as per what was happening from 1966 onwards in club racing), and for us old duffers who are stuck in a time warp, Apendix K.

All's well, as long as people don't try to match cars like for like on lap times.

The weather is a great leveller..........................It really shows who not only can drive, but the size of there gentlemens vegetables !

From a Mini perspective, how great was that!

I may be wrong but it seems you can actually be competative on a budget in HSCC Class D (as a couple of members of this board have proved) as opposed to App K/endurance racing and Minis can and do win the championships outright. Each to their own I suppose but I can certainly see a point to class D which to me is just as in tune if not more so with club racing in period .
