Dunlop vintage tyre code differences ?

Post by mesrine »

Hi I have recently put 4 old Dunlop 165/70 R10 SP Super formula 70's on my steel wheels........looks brilliant ....anyway, I have managed to pick up a couple of spares, but these tyres seem the same in every way, only the code is different......instead of 165/70 R10 it reads 165/70 HR10..........anyone one know what the H is for ?

cheers Ray

Hi Ray,

the H is a marking that shows the tyre is gauranteed to cope with speeds upto 130 MPH.

The H was dropped from HR at some point so an R is a later tyre of same speed rating.
