cheers gc, very tough event, not been out for over a year, and not with ali, my navigator, for nearly 3 years so a little rusty  , but really happy with 4th o/a, we were 4th o/a on test times also which, considering the machinery out there , was well happy with, the 998 never stops making me smile, it just revs and revs   , had a good chat with david, who was having misfiring probs with his gt, had a look for bryn, kept finding the car, but not the man, glad the back held up mate, i think a good combined showing from team mk1 performance 8-)

next round, yorkshire classic , lying 3rd in champ after first round so see how we go :D ram on !

Congratulations to Jon a great showing on the event . Had intermittent misfiring problems on No 1 and 2 cylinders ..... defeated me on the day in terms of fixing it had decided it must be the LH carb ..... further investigation today showed the issue to be a faulty condenser but have no explanation why it only affected No1 and 2 cylinders.

We finished thats about all we accomplished yesterday which is disappointing considering the hours of prep that goes into the car before an event.

thanks for the kind words ,was rotor arm or that, the symptoms just the same as i have experienced, keep an eye on rotor arm mate, dont get down on the result david, the car kept going and so did you, that is because of the prep!

I imagine the thought of a 4.2 litre Tiger assaulting you from behind was a good incentive to "put the hammer down". ;)

Great result though Jon and the other MK1 forum guys. 8-)

Great result Jon, you were really having a go at the very rough Cattle Market tests, the spectators couldn't believe LRK is only 998cc.
We spoke at the morning coffee stop about my other half who hails from Morecambe.

Bryn (MG) and WNX (1275GT), hope you like these photos, both cars looked good at the Cattle Market tests.

Indeed many thanks....likewise Jon kept finding LRK but not you..
What a cracking day, I was playing spot the old rally crews at controls (loving Will Sparrows road car number plate)...Whizzo saying ''it's like an MG owners club day out....good luck and remember we won the war !!''' :? ..he's not right is he?? ;) Russell Brookes saying it was cold and my nav cracking a 'heat for hire' joke...

but yes good day, very different from anything I've done before....now how anyone can rally an MGB competitively is beyond me...I tried everything, resorting to kicking the clutch and burying the throttle to get her to turn in.. ....so i'll be doing another soon (ish) although night rally commitments make many outings difficult....anyone want to do a deal on a Mini ???? :D

had a pleasant surprise today, we did not stop for awards as my nav needed to get back to newcastle, results arrived by e-mail, we actually won the pre-67 masters class and won the highest placed anwcc driver award, :D

I see you'd have won if it was based just on tests Jon... ;)

Taking it the event was very much regularity biased then, as the top 10 shows a load of cars that finished way down on the test results....tbh this is what makes me query whether i'd like to do lots more....

Good day had by all I hope though :)

hi bryn, proper hard day, lost the event on the last but two itc on regularity 4, we lost 5min 5 seconds !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, 26 crews however missed the control altogether and lost 30min, 5th o/a was a really good result in the end, and first masters again, really pleased, 3rd in championship after 2 events , next round is the ilkley jubilee, but am using that as a dropped round as i cant make it, so the next one is the leukaemia rally in wales, brecon motor club, you will know it well bryn,

next round is next saturday 11th may, the leukaemia rally in wales . new navigator for this one, mark appleton, never rallied with him before but against him many times, hoping for good championship points , the crew that has set off really well in this years championship is matt warren and cath woodman in a mk1 escort, winning 2 out of the first three rallies, will be trying hard to beat him !
