Superb work. My Dad's first car was a 1965 Austin Mini in Maroon B with the tan vinyl, bought when it was 3 years old and replaced in 1969 with a 1966 Mark 1 Cooper 998.

The Austin 850 has a different spec though - the UK Minis (Super Deluxe) had the vinyl lower dash rail and the oval instrument binnacle with water and oil pressure gauges. Our basic Minis had your interior but rubber floor covering, sealed rear side windows, no bumper over riders and no chrome trim in the screen rubbers.

I'm coming to France on holiday this year - would love to see these!

Hello

yes, mine is a standard version,

She used to have rubber floor covering, but it was thorn

I replaced it with some newton carpet,

But all original species had been kept,

As you can see, another difference between UK and france, the boot badge

UK mini mk1 used to have "Austin Mini" and export models used to have "austin 850"

when we bought she was never been restored,

but as for me all mk1 used to have overiders, but deluxe, super deluxe, cooper and cooper S used to have overiders and corner bars

Send me an email before to come in france,I'm really close to Paris!

Fantastic job, always a better car if you start with a shell that good ! Those Newton moulded carpets though...yeesh. Hobson's choice I suppose.

Dear Pete,

The newton carpets were the only choice,

When I got the car, she used to have the early rubber carpet set,

But, it was a little bit thorn, that's why I changed It!

I can't t describe the feeling, when I start the engine, what a nice and peaceful sound!

Pull the sticker off the washer bottle, it shouldn't have one. I am also wondering if the distributor cap should be a side entry type and the spark plug caps should be Champion WC548's That is about all I can see, lovely job though.

Also fit the ignition panel the right way (it's upside down) and I think it shouldn't have the chrome surround (?).

Hello

As for me she used to have WC200 spark plug cap??? no the early wc548 type.. isn't it?

And this is the good distributor cap, because it's one of the latest mk1 produced,

what do you mean for the ignition panel??

thank you

hello

Another picture of the car taking the sun

As for me the 850 mk1 used to have chrome trim arround the ignition and switches panel,

For the sticker I'm unsure, It's not difficult to pull it, as for me it was fitted on mk1/2 washer bottle,

About plug cap, I'm looking for its original wc200 caps,

Does anyone have this?

I think the ignition panel is correctly fitted, I don't understand how to fit it differently??

About plug cap, I'm looking for its original wc200 caps, I personally think a Mk1 should have WC548 caps, WC200's were later

I believe the ignition panel is upside down, you should turn it 180 degrees. I'm saying this because:

- The ignition barrel is upside down (it has a flat on one side, so can only be mounted one way... unless it was modified).
- The recesses for the choke and heater cables seem to be upside down too.

AFAIK late MK1 850 Minis didn't have chrome trim surrounds around the ignition panel.

Since yours is an export model, things may be different.

However I agree with Al, your car originally wouldn't have WC200 caps as they only appeared in the 70's.

Hello

I will wheck the ignition panel today,

For the chrome trim she used to have it before restoration,

And she also used to have wc200,

As for me wc548 was used until 67, and on late 67 they used to put wc200

Thank you
