Beaulieu 2013 1071 display

Post by mk1coopers »

At Beaulieu NMCD this year we want to celebrate 50 years of the Cooper S by having a separate parking area for 1071's, cars will be able to park together in the old location of the ex-works display by the arena, you will be able to join in on the day with your 1071, however we would like to know how many cars are likely to come so we can set aside enough space. To make the display as good as we can the cars need to be in a MK1 shell and have started life as a 63 /64 1071 S it's not ment to upset anyone who's car has been modified with 1071 power, we are just trying to assemble the largest collection of factory 1071 cars we can, projects are welcome as are modified cars, and, of course standard examples, they do not have to be pristine just loved and presentable :D

You can contact me by PM if you would like to be part of this, or add your name below, lets all cross our fingers for a return of 'normal' sunny Beaulieu weather !

List here!

Would be mega to see all the 1071s together. Will probably be the most amount of 1071s together since they left the factory!

I wonder if I could fit a 1071 in a carry-on??? Or perhaps a poster board for ex-patriots...

My 1071 is in a MK1 shell but i won't be cheeky and try and park it alongside the proper cars! We could have a gathering of these mongrels somewhere else though?

If the car left the factory as a 1071 S, and it's still in a MK1 shell it can park with the other cars, we are not looking for a perfect line of Heritage Certificate rebuilds, these cars were raced / rallied / crashed and modified when they were new, the display should reflect this along with the standard cars :D

No, it is, and always will be, an earlyish 850 :D but with 1070 power and, as i say, i've no intention of trying to get it onto your (no doubt) excellent display but if anyone else out there has a similar mongrel they'e welcome to join me. ;)

On related matter, i think this year's event is really one not to be missed, with several other cars of great interest due to attend. 8-)

It's now been mentioned that it would be good to get one of each of the standard colour combinations, if this happens we will make the effort to get these cars side by side on the day for a colour chart style photo within the line up
