Seat belt buckle advice.

Post by Mark1Peachey »

Does anyone have ideas for restoring early Kangol magnetic seat belt buckles? I have a set of the early metal type and they are not in the best condition. I believe this type was fitted originally to sprites and midgets.

They polish up really well.

Fine grinding paste to begin with & then polishing mop & that waxy stuff.

They will come up more or less like new.

Cheers for your reply Mark. The buckles I have do have some pitting to them, would you advise me removing enough material to give an even surface before mop and wax?

Hi, I didn't realise they were that pitted. You could rub them down until the pits have gone, but you may also end up taking too much material off. Personally I would probably give them a good polish byt be prepared to live with some pitting.
