1963 Black Morris 850
hi all this is my 1963 morris 850. i live in Victoria Australia, I bought this car from a guy down the road from me,
it had an engine bay fire. which burnt the speedo and housing wiring etc. i have the original enigine
seats and inside trimmings. have alot of work to do to bring it back to its glory days. it will be a really slow build as im trying to rebuild my 1974 leyland mini S (clubman front) and put that back on the road.
the heap of pics below show how i go it.

The Dunlop d1's really suit it, the mirrors less so!

Looks like a typical unloved Aussie Mini, the way I remember most Minis looking in the '80s and early '90s. It will make a great project.
The wheels are more likely to be Tasmans than Dunlop D1s. Tasmans were locally made and have a more D shaped cutout in them. Originally they had a nice shiny centre cap with a map of Australia on it.

Nice little project!
Quite a late 63 that (Dec probably), and factory black is less common.
Looks like it might have a period BMC Accessory Radio there on the dash!
Looks like they were still fitting complete (no brake cooling cut out) front panels into 1964, I think the change was mid 64 when more pressing was undertaken in Aus to increase local content.
Theres a guy down the road from me selling one like this, except the knob has hacked it up trying to put in a Suzuki engine! (Badly).
Those white binacles are hard to find now in Aus, the heat makes then crack and crumble. The doortrims are Aussie original, look after them!
Oh and 'rare' twin horn conversion!! (Not standard)
Nice Car!
Cheers

i didnt know what they look like. its and aftermarket one i just trying to find out the history of it. i dont know the condition of it, so its one of my many projects with this car, what style of taillights do early minis run, a two screw or the three screw lense, i have one of each on the car and i want to change them to the correct ones.

Re: 1963 Black Morris 850
It's still a nice period piece Norm, I hope you can get it working!
Your 850 would have had the 3 screw rear lamps, the 2 screw Aussie ones are later.
Where are you in Aus. I'm in NSW and can fix you up with a lamp if you need one.....
Cheers
