When I fit one of the master cylinders on my '68 Innocenti there's a gap. Should there be another plate or bigger gasket under the master cylinder, or do I need a plate with a smaller hole?
the NAM1718 is the spacer that corrects the length of the pushrod on the early tandam master cylinders
it was probably a quick bodge the factory did as they (i assume) found that as the brakes warmed up and expanded the fluid, the fluid would 'jack' the cylinder in the master cylinder up and jam the brakes on. sticking a fat shim under the master cylinder would increase the free stoke of the connecting pin and prevent this occurance from happening. using a shim would have been cheaper than remaking the length of the pin.

A new one on me, I didn't realise brake masters came with different flange sizes. Looking at some old photos of my Inno before I restored it, it had the brake/clutch master cylinder with the smaller flange. A guy on another forum has confirmed his had a plate underneath the brake master cylinder.
Thanks for the reply Rich, I think I edited my post just before your reply. I did a google search and it came up that it was for the twin master.
