I have to agree with Pete here, it's a simple case of supply and demand. I saw only recently 2 1071's sold, Sussex sports cars sold theres smoke grey car at £30+ and the red with the white roof one (can't remember the dealer) sold for £ 26.
Just while we are on 1071's. How many 1071's are known to survive in the Cooper Register records out of the 4,000 or so built.

So if we believe both auction end prices reflect what actually changed hands, he's made £800 less fees, less transportation to collect it in the first place and less overheads. Not much of a profit for a dealer surely?

can also be a bit of a gamble
i agree with u guys-i suppose 1071 dont come up often,,and some of the expensive restored ones at "dealers"aint exactly restored properly,

i bet there was plenty of graft with a thinners soaked rag to get all that different coloured paint overspray off its flanks!
for 800 quid to cover time, fuel and transport costs i think id have rather stayed inside drinking tea and eating biscuits...
but, as has been pointed out to me in the past 'im not a businessman'.

nah..he lovingly packages up mail order bits for me....ive had way too many bits lately
