Valve cover question

Post by whitebuffalo »

When I bought my 1960 Austin Seven it came with a tasty alloy valve cover. I cleaned it up and found that the inside has the name Coneco cast into it. Anyone know anything about them?

On the Viking cover, what does that plate have written on it?

I have seen the first one once or twice before but not one for sale.

Whitebuffalo, does your car have continuous US history, or did it came from Aus / NZ as I believe these covers are from that part of the world.

The car has a continuous US history. Was shipped to California from new and according to our department of motor vehicles it has been in California all it's life.

I think the Aussie ones that I have are a similar shape on the outside, but not as nicely cast on the inside.

So is it the consensus that this rocker cover might be an Australian unit?

I have a cover like this that has a S cast in it. I think it was on a sprite motor and it came from California. Nice period look!

I'm fairly certain its not a UK one.

It is definately similar to one available at one time in Aus, but as there are now 2 we know of in the States I reckon it's most likely a US one.

And very nice it is too.

Hi All,

New here, but not new to minis :)

The typical Aussie alloy cover you see a lot of over here look like this :

There are variations but they all follow pretty closely to the above.

cheers,

Hi Jacob,

There is also a version with the filler in the centre isn't there.

I had a bit of a thing about rocker covers at one time & managed to buy a few very nice ones from Aus that were both a reasonable price & different to those I see here in the UK.

That was a while ago though, interesting ones seem to be snapped up for silly money now though.

Its good to see you posting here mate!
