Finally...something in my price range!

It looks to have been crashed in the past (VERY funny looking front wing), is this easy to repair?

Also, would this make a good base for a project? From what I can see, it looks fairly solid...

you will need a few thousand handy for a restoration?

It would be cheaper save to buy one finished.

Body panels. £ 1-2k
Painting £ 1.5-3k
Engine and box £ 1k
Suspension parts £ 0.5- 1k
Interior £ 0.5 - 1k

So that around £5-8k plus £3k for the project car. And that's doing all the work yourself except painting!

looking at the pile of rust on the floor, id guess the sills are toast, and its low enough to suggest that the hydro has gone down.

i bet it sells for 1500-2000 grand as it is

the wing isnt an issue, its been a low speed bump and the inner wing would straighten easy. the problems are the rot you cannot see!

I agree with Guru basically - the wing damage is nothing much - you're most likely going to have to replace wings and probably front panel etc on ANY project you buy. Who knows how much rust is in it but it looks fairly complete and genuine and, to my mind, an attractive colour and spec. Those late hydrolastic Mk1s drive very nicely and the hydrolastic might just have settled slowly whilst stored and not be a major issue. It's only in Southampton. If you're in Oxfordshire and can get a day off, ring him up and go and see it. The more cars you look at, the more you'll learn if nothing else. Who knows what it'll sell for but if you're down there, you can always wave some real money under his nose. It is hard to resist .

I would also agree that, if you have a garage and some restoration abilities, have a go at a project. If you haven't, then try and buy a car already done. A Mini is a small car but a lot of work to restore properly. There is nothing wrong with a sound but tatty car if that's what you desire - they can be more fun than a smart one in fact!
