'68 Mk2 S...

Post by UWD 672G »

Thought I'd post a shot or two of the Mk2 Morris 1275 S I bought in the Summer of 2011 from another MCR member.... previously restored in the early '90s and generally in good nick all round having been kept in garages since then (and covering less than 6k miles in that time), I took it off the road in September last year with the intention of having a new front end put on and a blow over in it's original Island Blue / Snowberry White combo as the blue didn't quite match all the way round the car, well it soon turned into a bare metal / cut out the rot / and start again job, the usual story, anyway it was found amongst other things that the off side inner A panel was only tack welded at the top and bottom and there was a fair amount of filler in the rear quarter panels. It's not half as bad as could be expected though with the floors, flitch panels, bulkhead etc being very sound. Things are moving on apace now with Tim King of John King & Sons in Napton doing a grand job. Should be all ticketyboo by Easter time and I can't wait to drive it again... fingers crossed a couple of 'before' and 'during' pics should appear below... the plan is to repaint the car in Radford / W&P stlye monotone dark blue, and maybe fit some period tinted glass if I can find any. Interior wise it's standard, aside from Newton replica recliners, Motolita wheel and period tacho (all fitted by the previous owner) ;)

Lovely motor and Island blue is such a nice colour.
The mk1 / mk2 debate is something I've pondered over loads. In an ideal world I'd have both (along with a 30, RSP and Sportspack Coopers) but not being blessed with an unlimited piggy bank or more than 1 garage I had to choose. For me its got to be a Mk1, just so pure and somehow "right"
