I use imageshack.com - you upload the pic there and then post the 'forum code' link to the forum. Or upload to flickr (you need an account) and then use 'share' to get a link to use as above.

Or, balance and rejet the carbs on the laptop after giving it a thorough de-coke. :)

You could also use PIXresizer a free download and very simple to use:

1.4Mb is a HUGE picture.
I use everybody's free viewer IrfanView http://www.irfanview.com/ which has a resizing feature, though one photo at a time. But usually a photo of that size can simply be re-saved, or saved with a different file name and the new file size will be reduced to under 400 kb without reduction in picture size or resolution. This has to do with the jpg compression from your camera vs jpg compression with IrfanView. (I won't get into technicalities here)

i use photobucket as well and just resize the photo in Microsoft Picture Manager or Paint before uploading to it and then pasting the resulting image link into the forum post. Simples. ;)

Generally speaking I suggest that no one post any pics larger than 750 pixels across.

These will usually amount to a couple dozen of K at most.
