Thas a nice MG my Grandfather had one of those, dont know if it was a 1100 ? how do one tell ?

thank you:) not entirely sure how you tell to be honest.
i know what you mean about the grille. people are just stupid. i parked behind the guy who hit it. i was working on his car. then he went to move it and i said "you want me to move mine?" and he said nah mate its ok. then promptly reversed into me!

Very nice!
I had an Austin 1300, which sadly got crashed into and written off... Loved it! It was great fun and very comfortable!
I still have some parts left over as I bought it back off the insurance company and broke it for spares, as i know they are hard to come by....
you may struggle fining optional wheels that fit... the PCD is 114.3x4, whcih is MGB/Stag... but they run larger diameter wheels which need a lot of mods to fit! I did find some period Cosmic alloys in 12x5" but never got round to fitting them before it got written off...
I fitted a GT grill and dashboard to mine, along with a modified mini LCB and Maniflow exhaust! It was great!

Oooh thats nice. A bit far away for me though.
This one is closer and it 'benefits' from the 1500 'E' series engine. Its the top of the range OD/5 with Luxury pack too! Shame its so ugly.

Yes, the BMC fibre glass version, no I don't know what they were for but, I was visiting Vortz Racing one day around 1967ish and there was a new unregistered white 2 door MG 1300, I was told that it was a development car for BMC and it was all made of fibre glass including the bonnet and boot, but the doors remained in steel. The guy there said it was slower than a standard steel version as BMC said it had to be made of a certain thickness which made it a lot heavier. Unlike the Mini it had no visual differences to the steel version. That's about all I know, and have never seen reference to these vehicles, would be interesting to know. 12g940

ahh.. takes me back to x/mas 72 and driving from london to brighton on a snowy x/mas eve in my late sis/brother in laws 1300gt same colour ..was it harvest ????..rostyle wheels made it look sporty !!! all i remember is a nice roomy car,felt really solid that old gt....not to many austin/mg,s about these days...great design if u reflect on the internal room plus decent boot space .... memories foxy52tedmcedd wrote:Very nice!

Ok so as you know the sandwich plate from the gearbox was split. So I bought one off eBay for a bargain price thanks to jonners:) so here's the new one
Looks a bit better than the one on the car!
After undoing 4 bolts the remote tunnel promptly dropped and hit me on the head
So i gave it all a quick clean and plastered it all in grease and refitted.
All done! And here's old and new next to each other.
It's now a much nicer feeling to change gear:) landed. I'm sure they'll be more soon:)

Love this car!
I notice that you've got the 'closed circuit breather' set up which is some sort of emissions control attempt. I had this engine in a mini of mine and had awful problems with misfires and running weak, not matter what I did to the carbs. Turns out that the round appendage next to your rocker cover is what is known as the 'clacker valve' and contains a rubber diaphragm which in my case was perforated through perishing, but not enough so you'd notice at idle. Once I'd got to the root of the problem I took it off and sold it on ebay - mk 2 coopers had this set up I think.
Just in case you ever find yourself in a similar situation, like..

thank you! so what did you do with the pipework on your when you removed that? i did wonder what the hell it was! thought it might have been one of them magical fuel savers you see on ebay. haha

The GRP ADO16 was for Chile, it was a 1300 MG developed in part by Peel but project lead buy Pressed Steel Fisher in Oxford. Peel made a red 2 door and the moulds, this all then passed to PSF who made the White car. The ADO16 was built along side the GRP Mini by Emssa in Chile.Hi mg1100guy

Hi and welcome.
I've enjoyed reading your trials and tribulations with your great liitle car.
After I passed my driving test I used to "borrow" my fathers Morris 1300 estate and compared to driving the 850 mini traveller the 1300 was a revelation. (It could well have been the extra horsepower)
I recall seeing a rally prepared version in my local town, on or around the time of the Welsh Rally. Were they ever homologated for International events.?
It was sitting fairly high with raised suspension and shod with Minilites. It looked the dogs.
