The photos are from "The BMC Experience" magazine's Grand Day Out. The BMC Experience (formerly The Mini Experience, is Craig 'Watto' Watson's endeavour. Watto has been slaving away to try to record the history of Mini (and now BMC) in Australia, but with plenty of reference to the mother country. He's done a tremendous job and it just keeps getting better. I've never made it to Grand Day Out, but I've decided to go next year, mainly on the basis of these photos.

Hmm the thought occurred to me that maybe I should drive there in the Traveller - that gives me just under 12 months...

The Moke with the ultra-wide wheels is a ripper. I don't think its technically legal like that but I have seen it on the road. Its known as "MEANE"

Obviously the sun helps a bit, but what a great variety of cars - seldom seen at UK outdoor events. I'm sure that many of us Mini enthusiasts would welcome a more broad show of cars sometimes. I know next year there is an event to celebrate 100 years of Morris cars which might produce something along those lines?

...great pics, watto is a real mini stalwart and visited me when he came to england some years ago while travelling in sussex... he also popped by while local to see black mamba on this forum, took lots of pics andi some ended up in his mag...it was a great read for sure.... i especially like the colour coded narrow wheel arches of those aussie mk 2 types in the pics posted....the light blue car with union jack headlights is a nice example........ very nice indeed ...... foxy52
