Primary gear 'oil thrower'

Post by LDR209H »

Putting together a helical set of drop gears. On the primary gear I have, there is a thin metal collar - I'm assuming some kind of oil thrower - that decided it didn't want to be attached to the gear anymore. Am I safe to use the gear without it,or will it cause a premature oil leak ? I see a lot of straight cut ones don't have them fitted.
Cheers

I too have experienced that flinger thing drop off. Wherever possible I have used primary gears that still have thie flinger, but on occasions I have had to use one where it had gone walkabout.

To be honest, I have never noticed any difference whatsoever.
