Re: Santa lands in Felixstowe
Yes Tim its a 1967 1275 S Radford Hatchback with the all Ali tail gate. The early hatchback's used the steel back end of the mini to form the door and in 67 they changed to an all Ali door to reduce the weight of the door and on the later radfords they change them to fiberglass ( Don't know what year ).Tim wrote:Nice. is the hatchback a Radford?

What's the story behind it Nev, come one spill. I've quite a few photos of hatchbacks, was it ever UK registered ? Whayt colour ?
Great find, my dream Mini a hatchback, though fitting a modern drum kit in would be a squeeze !

Re: Santa lands in Felixstowe
She was born in Feb 67 original BMC colour was OEW/Black white can still be found on some panels. It was sent to Radfords in the first quarter of 67 (Radford glass date) and given the full works treatment Hatchback conversion etc and painted a dark blue which can still be found on the doors. It was then sold to someone in France ( I don't know it's original owner in France, but I would love to find this out. Is there anyway this can be traced?) A US Army service man Mr Howard Mitchell Michael fell in love with the car in France sometime in the late 70's and bought the car and got it shipped to the states. He then sold it to Hal in the 80's at this time the car needed a bit of TLC so Hal stripped her and started the restoration. With other projects taking priority over the Radford Restoration it got stalled and that's when I stepped in, so she now resides in sunny Ireland with the Resto to start after I finish AKY early next year.

Re: Santa lands in Felixstowe
Thanks Brian,
I have 99% of the car from what I can make out so far. I will need the two spot lights and two of the lockable petrol caps,(might have them sorted) the big item a mk1 heated rear screen and I'm sure I will find more things as I go. But I have all the important parts engine, box, running gear, trim, dash and clocks, original wiring loom (A lot of wires, I hate wires!), NOS sun roof, doors, Glass, wheels, hydro suspension and a lot of photos/notes from the stripping. But I might be calling for advice .
How is your baby coming on, really looking forward to seeing her in bulee!

Thanks Brian and that's a fair price to. Just reading about all those wires made me dizzy. You don't fancy a holiday in sunny Dublin when the wiring starts

Here is some photos of the Radford price list from '67. You can see why only the rich and famous could afford them

Jens,
I found them on a US mini forum. I was very luck the seller was very helpfully packed everything in boxes, hired a lorry and trailer and delivered them to the port for me. A true gent ! He is coming over on holidays in 2014, so I want to have it finished for him to have a drive when he comes over.

Was the Red/Black one found in Georgia?
