my 66 super D

Post by rhys-89 »

hi all i purchased this car via ebay back in december 2010 as it was close to christmas the person selling this car was eager to get some money close to christmas so hence i got this for a very good priced and got it delivered for free which i was very pleased with. I worked on it, on and of for only 2months as i was near the end of my other projects a 74 austin 1000. In march 2011 i then moved out of the mother in laws with my partner to buy our own place, as were were expecting our first (who is now 9 months old) since then the car has not been touch as the house and little one are my priority but i will start again soon. here are some pictures of how i received it. note the hydrolastic lines have gone, hence the low ride lol

just a quick update, I managed to get in the garage for a few hours today whilst the weather was stopping me from laying my patio in the garden, so just a few pics to update progress still need to buy panels to complete front end but started to remove some items and rust from the engine bay and sprayed some fresh paint just to cover it up until i buy some red oxide paint. i also fitted my new set of overriders and bars today along with my badge bar just a few fiddly jobs which are now done and wraped up awaiting to be fitted when the car is finished. feedback and coments would be greatful.

Keep at it!

Do people use paint for the gear knob lettering or something else?

I used Tippex to do mine, and simply cleaned off the surplus with a little Tcut.

Some progress continues

When I first had this car I tried to get the engine running but did not succeed it turns over by hand and freely , but today I took the head off to re lap the valves and clean up with a new copper gasket to find one if the valves seized open and all of them very suited up !

Oh dear, if the head is like that, what's the rest of the engine like? Are the bores rusted? Any water in the gearbox?
