I noticed this split / crack in the top of a (soon to be scrapped ) wet subframe.
Not sure of the precise age, but guessing at 66 / 67 vintage.
Has anyone else experienced something similar.?

Yep, not at all uncommon. The crack can be welded but it would be better to find another subframe, if you can.

Yes, they can crack in a number of places. I'd weld it, there is no need to throw it out. I've repaired countless numbers of them without worry.

grind it clean, and a good weld,would be a good repair and last for years,without any worries
