NUMBER PLATE "GP" MK1 BRIGHTON
As stated in the title, is anyone else registered with a mk1 mini plate starting as GP (Garden of England) Brighton, this is interesting to me i would love to see if there is any mk1 siblings that have survived. I've never seen another one!!!

That's not how number plates worked back then. The first letter is simply an alphabetic identifier, while the P and the following letter denoted the registration authority. Many of the Ps - PA, PB, PC, PD, PE etc - were Surrey County Council, some were East Sussex (PM and PN), some West Sussex (PO and PX), etc. So NPE 115D (a car I used to own, now dead) was a 1966 Surrey number. Coincidentally, then, a GPM or GPN would be East Sussex and might have been been seen in Brighton.
When the new system arrived in 2001, most of the two-letter place identifiers were changed although a lot of London 'L' ones stayed the same. That's when the 'Garden of England' became cheesily immortalised on G-prefix plates.
I'll get my anorak.

John, i feel like a complete moron! Thanks for taking the time to reply, indeed my car does actually have the registration GPM!
This is great news, so it would still be nice to find other similars
Once again, thanks for your time!

The original registration of my ex John Cooper car was R*** GPN. Sadly not a Mk1 which might have been GPN *** B?
