22,000miles was low for the 10years use it had. I bet the interior is in good condition.

of all the rubbish i have seen for sale recently on ebay etc etc... this car appears to be the real deal.. i dont think anyone could find fault with this one..... even has the old brake sticker on the bootlid... !!! ?? popular on cars of the period... bet it will sell for a tad moe than 12g !!!! foxy52

Funny how the old un-restored cars are getting more interest than the restored show and shines (not having a dig at anyone!) i think that the history of the car is what gives the car interest.

Couldn't agree more, I have always found tatty original cars far more interesting than mint restored examples. Lets face it, anyone (providing they spend enough money) can have a mint restored Cooper, while there are only so many examples of totally original unrestored cars about.

That's how you want to find em , reminds me of the Tweed Grey one that pitched up on here about two years ago, with a few hours work I'm sure that could be back on the road. I love the old photos, especially the proud owners posing with the car, really says something of the way in which these cars were looked upon, can't imagine anyone doing that with todays runabouts.

I spotted this last week on one of the classic car sites, it's being ofefred by Charterhouse Auctions at there sale on the 4th of November. The sale is at the Royal Bath and West Showground. £12,000 for a 998 does seam a little optimistic to me, I would say around £9000.

Yup the old "DISCS" warning sticker to tell the car behind that you've got half decent brakes so they don't smack you up the arse. Stuffed Mini boot lids used to be such a common sight didn't they.

Prepare to be amazed. This isn't just any 998 Cooper, but is probably the last original unrestored example left.

this is the reason why i resist restoring my mk1 morris basic
its not rusty at all but the paint is getting a little thin in places where it has been polished through and there are a few spiders and microblisters in the 52 yr old paint

This car sold today for £16500, plus premium, which brought the total to £18,480 (if my calculations are correct).

A perfectly original car but very dirty, poorly stored and a non-runner. Would make a superb car with very careful and sympathetic attention. In my opinion it would be a sacrilege to "restore" the car.

Fair price, if you compare it with some of those fake/reshell/V5 jobs, that we are use to see up for sale, at much higher prices.

Indeed. A toothrush valeting/detailing job, a gallon of Waxoyl and a mechanical overhaul. Cars like this just reek of the past and that's what someone will ultimately pay over 20 grand for - lucky them!
A few years back I sat in a 1966 Mini Minor, OEW with red trim. Almost completely original. It was a warm day and the smell of the interior vinyl (unique to the red trim) took me back to the early seventies in a split second. Lovely!
