I saw the programme the 911 looked better stripped to bare metal, they painted it bright orange but didn't bother with the engine bay or boot areas from what I can remember it had a non standard glass sunroof as well, a nice touch was the matching orange piping when they re-upholstered the interior.

They must have done a hell of a job on that Porsche engine, if the rotor arm spins at 8,000 rpm!

£22K you're avin a larf. A nicely restored tangerine 911e/t perhaps. But a plopped up,blown over partial resprayed Ford orange 2.7/sc with tacky add-on spoiler and whale tail ...euck. No fooling this super switched on Classic car valuer of theirs though !!

Saw the E type butchered, not looked at the 911 yet. Possibly the worst car repair since Ed China thought it would be a good idea to replace 1/2 an A panel on a Mk1 in the original series of wheeler dealers

Mini minor im so glad that someone has mentioned the ed china half A panel . Every time i see him on tv it reminds me of that episode. It haunts me , i need help to get over it .

.. think u have to realise guys this is a tv prog designed to cause consternation..!!!..who ever in their right mind would spray a car with the wheels on or at least not covered...!!!the whole thing is designed to take the piss!!..but u have to marvel at getting a wreck restored and road legal with an m o t in under 14 days !!!!.it looked quite nice when they took it for a drive.. ..i wonder if he does his own m o t,s.??!!...5 grand ??! bargains compared to a mini resto ??!! .look at the greedy ******** trying to sell a wreck in the first place... that farmer wanted a grand !!!!.. ..most prof mini/car restorers charge vast sums and make a fortune... nice if u have deep pockets and can afford anything...welcome to the real world of bodgett and scarper.......i make no defence of the prog but i for one wouldnt miss it like most of u..!!??.pure entertainment...and i saw the mini to...i doubt they will get to grips with that..u never know....foxy52

They didn't restore the barn find. The finished car is a different car, hence why the sunroof got filled this week. It's was funny to see the dash change from a post 76 to a pre 76 one. Also the shuts looked to be Snapdragon when the car was near painting, and not the Inca yellow of the farm fresh car!

But the biggest joke was the "rear end falling out". I think that what the new owner will experiance on their first drive, but not necessarily from the car

Interesting that, aside from the spring hangers, there was no mention of the significant amount of welding, panel work, etc., the yellow car clearly needed!

Last nights episode was the first I have watched and neither me nor the better half could quite believe what we were seeing. They're obviously trying to emulate the American Hotrod type shows where the emphasis is more on the squabbles with the workforce than on the actual work in progress.

Why get rid of a perfectly good Webasto on a BGT but keep a glass sunroof on an E type unless of course it was a switched car. I did think that the finished welded roof appeared to be of the correct profile and needing little filling !

Surely the rear axle dropping out was a stunt. To me it looked like they had been cut through at each end as there was no signs of the ends of the springs where the shackle pins would go through. No signs of how the scuttle rot was repaired etc etc.

A complete load of old tosh but a must to watch for the cringeworthy-ness of it.

I'd love to win one of the cars just to have a good look at how it was bodged......sorry, restored.

Many believe that they do but usually because most diy restorers don't allow for the true cost of their time/labour and overheads on top of the material costs if they were in the business to make a living.......not to mention the unexpected problems that are hidden within every restoration project!

I think you've hit the nail on the head, it's probably about as 'real' as a Top Gear challenge and about as unscripted as Coronation Street but just as watchable depending on your viewpoint. If they made an actual programme about restoring a classic car that wasn't dumbed down like this one, without the scene 'set ups' and scripted arguments only a handful of old farts would watch it,.... mainly us !

...exactly pete,.. the thing is as far as resto is concerned there is no comparison with the time and attention to detail that the self builder/owner would take to achieve a near perfect as possible job..no wonder so much vitriol and scorn is heaped on bernie the bodger and co !!!. but then i would not have the tech capability to do same..so trusting in others is the key...i even get the sweats when i have tyres changed !! kids that work in garages want to jack up the mini any old how !!! and scratch their heads until i point out the correct spots to put the jack under.. !!! ........ alloys !!.. theres another prob about scoring the edges on 43 year old d1,s !!!...
