vans you get a mini in..?

Post by tintoptom »

Morning

Any idea which vans (mid range transit, etc.) you can fit a mini in? Really wondering about clearance over a vans internal wheel arches and also load bay height (I'll need to push itin there somehow!!).

Any pointers gratefully received!

Cheers

Hi Guru,

Yeah, a complete car...

The load area on both of those is quite low isn't it? I looking at pumping the tires up on a car that's been standing and pushing it / hauling it with trailer straps up some 1 (and a bit) meter ramps. Does that sound doable to you?

I recently packed an 80" landy into a luton van - it was running so I just drove it up. I was amazed how easy it was bearing in mind the the height of the load bay! Obviously having it running make all the difference.

Cheers

i dont think id be happy with a full mini in the back of a van, 750kg of mini comming through the front seats in the event of an accident wouldnt be the safest thing!

Luton body lwb transit fits

I have used one (rented) for about 6 times now. Front on taillift 2 each corner at the back youngest son pushes the button and when its level push it in :)

Getting out is a slightly harder!

Do-able though

Bought a minivan (also fits) but not enough bodies as guy was on his own - knocked on the neighbours and had half the street helping

750kg of mini comming through the front seats
Good point - the Luton I used for the landy used many internal struts the fix to the sides to pack it in + we used a load of straps too. But the smaller transits don't use that system I believe...

Paul - how did the tail lift thing work? It's sounding like the Luton might be the best option...

Push front of car onto the tail left (check what weight it can take first) then block behind front wheel, bodies at rear lift the rear of the min as the tail lift goes up then push car in (guy who presses the button on the lift also knocks the block out of the way. Strap it down properly once in ( i also put blocks under wheels).
The van i use has a seperate cab (luton body was fitted) it aint coming out the back as the taillift folds up and its thick! but as Rich says it could come through the front if you have no bulkhead and seperate body.

Body shells/rolling shells are a doddle you just need a trolley as well though if no running gear
