27 Not Out

Post by Lord Croker »

Took my Mini for it's MOT yesterday, got a first time pass with no advisories, that's the 27th straight pass during my ownership of it. Not bad for a 100,000 mile 31 year old Mini with all original structure apart from the rear subframe & o/s front wing. Also original are the ball joints, track rod ends & radius arm bearings, but I fear my grease gun is wearing out!

Thanks guys, I was lucky in finding this Mini when it was 5 years old, 17,000 miles, it was waxoyled from new & I have repeated the treatment every 2-3 years. I'll be the first to admit that Minis are very much more maintenance intensive than many cars, even contemporary ones, but if you have the enthusiasm to keep up the maintenance of structure & mechanical items, you have a very reliable little car. It's often said I go a little OTT on MOT prep, while cleaning old waxoyl off the heel board, I still found the original yellow paint.
