BEWARE DENIS BORDAS, 970GP2
ok guys, as you have probably guessed, this b*****d is trying to rip me off by not giving me back my deposit of 450 pounds that i paid for a 64 s shell on ebay on july 15th last, after untold emails from me to him, and loads of bullshit from him, i still do not have my shell or deposit. i know some of you have done business with him in the past, and you may or may not have had good experiences also, but beware in future, it could be you next time! looks like i am going to have to brush up on my french for my future visit to france! ian.

Did you use Paypal Ian ? They did come in rather useful for me when I also got ripped off earlier this year (Ebay again) and I got my money back. There are certainly some robbing b*st*rds about and you can never be too careful.

Am sorry to hear this, have never had any trouble with Denis in the past. I do know he has had some troublesome times lately due to a relative dying.

You have time on your side Ian. The mini scene is to small. He will pop up at some stage at a car/mini show and that's when you can nab him. Does anyone have a picture of him so he will have no place to hide. The French embassy in Dublin might be a good place to start and get the French police on to it, he wouldnt like the French police knocking on his door with a big 2x4.

The most important message from Ian's sad story is;
NEVER SEND A PAYPAL PAYMENT AS A GIFT!
You are signing away any security that you have as Paypal will not get involved with disputes of this sort.
If someone wants you to do this, it is MUCH better to agree to send it as a normal payment for goods but pay the Paypal fees yourself. You should also clearly & concisely describe the transaction in the comments box.
i.e. Please find payment for 1964 Mini Cooper S Shell, with no accompanying log book. To be delivered as agreed on or before the 32nd of Juno 2012.
I always do this, simply to ensure I have some comeback if things go wrong.
I hope that you get some sort of satisfaction Ian.

Re: BEWARE DENIS BORDAS, 970GP2, CATSEVEN1@ORANGE.FR
I've had payment issues with Denis as well.
He won one of my ebay auctions and never cared to pay.
He did mention that he was having a hard time due to a relative dying, but what I found curious was that he kept making purchases on ebay and I was seeing his feedback growing and my money still in his pocket...
If the relative story was true or not... I'll never know
What I know is that I would have gladly cancelled the deal if he had given me a proper justification, but he only asked for a couple more days to complete the payment and then kept giving excuses for not being able to pay
The only thing I can say now is "lesson learned"
@bmcman.ie, good luck

Exactly the same as above. I sold my rev counter to the under bidder in the end, only for him to later accidentally pay......sandro_f wrote:I've had payment issues with Denis as well.

But, being a decent chap, I immediately refunded his payment.

Re: BEWARE DENIS BORDAS, 970GP2, CATSEVEN1@ORANGE.FR
I think it's important to say that there may well be circumstances at play here we don't know about. I can only say that I was given lots of very tragic reasons why he couldn't find time to pay for an item he had bought (a rev counter) due to a relative's very serious illness. This may have been true, I don't know.
However, he could send emails and find time to buy and pay for other items in the same period, and to list many low value things like engine and gearbox tab washers, which frankly seemed likely to be rather low priorities for someone in the situation he described to me.
Still maybe it was true, but eventually my patience ran out. If I am wrong, I appologise.

Re: BEWARE DENIS BORDAS, 970GP2, CATSEVEN1@ORANGE.FR
You would have thought that there are only so many times that a close family member can be dangerously ill. Reminds me of someone I have had the misfortune to deal with a couple of times in the past I know FOR CERTAIN that either he or a close relative had a "life threatening illness" or death in the family on multiple occasions! Or that's what he told me & other people he dealt with.
It always amazes me how people as "unlucky" as some of those discussed in this thread still manage to do deals and make offers its only when delivery of an item or payment become an issue that their lives are "overwhelmed by misfortune".
If anyone can give Ian Mr Bordas's address I know he would be most appreciative, he has tried all other methods of contacting Denis with no success.

...i think thats very magnanimous of u ,..but human nature being what it is we nearly all at times give others a load of tosh as an excuse when we owe money.. i gave my builder to much rope to hang himself and i truly believed he would pay without me taking him to court !! he didnt !!!... best of luck...Pandora wrote:I think it's important to say that there may well be circumstances at play here we don't know about. Don't agree with that. If the seller really has problems surely he could find the time to make a Paypal refund, takes minutes. It's the litmus test of a dodgy b*sta*d to suddenly become 'unavailable' when they owe you hundreds of pounds. There's one particular dealer over here who I keep hearing first hand owes people money left right and centre, bullshit excuses aside you're either straight or you're a rogue it's that simple. We'll be calling burglars "courageous" next.foxy52 wrote: human nature being what it is we nearly all at times give others a load of tosh as an excuse when we owe money.. .
I bought a chrome Morris Cooper grille from Ebay recently and the seller stressed it was definately not stainless repro. Guess what...yep it was stainless and the seller suddenly became very illusive when I tried to make contact with them. It's amazing how much more interested they became once Paypal got involved. We all make mistakes , I've done it when rushing to list an item i hadn't inspected properly so I coughed it and ended up giving a refund. There's genuine cock ups and then there's.... 'the dark side' .

Re: BEWARE DENIS BORDAS, 970GP2, CATSEVEN1@ORANGE.FR
Well, since I'm at peace with all my life choices, personal and "business" I decided to share with you guys this email I got earlier today from Mr Denis Bordas aka catseven1.
First of all, it's funny how he strangely (and quickly) found the time to write this email after this topic was created.
As for me this doesn't bother me a bit. I've done business with several forum members and I believe I have no complaints so far.
As many of us I've made my share of mistakes, and I've done my best to correct them.
I've helped and been helped, and if I'm still around it's because the way I act works.
I'll let you read the full email, and after that a couple messages to Denis:
ps1: Denis, if your lawyer needs help I'm sure a couple of us will be able to gather some good info as well
ps2: I do have a very close relative extremely ill and needing my assistance almost 24h a day as well, but that does not give me a reason to play with other people's money and lives. You do not know if they are needing the money you are keeping from them. We both know that in my case it was a considerable amount, and you kept buying stuff on ebay while owing me a payment
ps3: If you want to play ball be very sure of yourself because I'm very confident where I'm standing
You would have avoided all this being one thing and one thing only: HONEST

Hi, Sandro,
I will deposit a complaint against you and your site and forum for defamation and disclosure of my personal information, email address name.
In addition, I made a copy of your messages on your forum for my lawyer, I think it will be happy to read that you and your friends are wrote about me.
What about your forum was opened by Ian Okcneden that buy to me a body shell of Morris Cooper S 1964, but I have not yet had time to deliver.
I told Ian that I had a serious problem in my family, and I see that it makes you laugh. In fact, my ex-wife died of a ruptured aneurysm and now I have to take care and watch over my 13 year old son, I do not wish that on anyone. Because you and your but I am at your disposal certificate Death of the mother of my son, at the age of 43 Years.
I expect you, a public apology on page topic on your forum, and deleting my family from my email address. I'll leave it for 24 hours, after which it is I'll post my messages you concernatnt you and your friends. In addition, I noticed, dear Mark, you were expecting someone gives MoPn address Ockenden Ian, I think my lawyer will pprecier that too.
You have made some good informers during the war, you allow yourself to judge people without connaitres, and without knowing why and how, and without knowing the problem you are not puique concern.
I expect from you in the shortest possible time, and exscuses or
this is a trial that awaits you.
M. Bordas Denis
