Hello

Post by Rich_chancer »

Hi my name is rich from hull. Having stubbed across a mk1(batman) on eBay with some good bits I have got my self a little hooked on the early cars!

Only problem is it is very butchered(70's custom) but remains solid in key areas.

Finding the forum very usefull And helpfull.

Regards rich

Really needs a shell, if you stand any sort of chance with it!!

Think I've managed to link it right? Never done pics on a forum before

Any body know the car from years ago? It was picked up in the Surrey area 3 or 4 months ago.

Its said not to have been on the road for 30 to 35 years and told its a 1963 model cooper???

Any comments good bad indifferent are welcome.

Now that is a real freakin' time warp!!

Hope you've got some metalflake platform boots to drive that with!

Big job to bring it back, deseamed :?

Moved master cylinders etc etc.

Had a good chuckle!

FE number not enough to ID the car, does it have a plate on the rad shroud?

Good Luck!

Looks like a bigger engine has been fitted, and what a custom job that must have been when it was first done

Thanks for the warm welcome, guess the pics worked

I've searched the net for an old photo etc of it but to avail

It's got a 1275 11 stud engine( mk3 s or 1300gt?) with pipes and oil cooler on a rod change 12g333 gearbox so nice roh cortessa 10" wheels.

Some bits of cooper trim and that's it!

The front end inner wings is very good inc bulk head so may just use to chop it to repair some other shell if need be.

No I'd or any tags only the fe number

Rich,
As JC T One pointed out, there are a few hints that this might be more than just an 850, the cooper trims for the doors etc.

I see some black painted rear pocket trim, looks like it might be green or light blue on back (foldovers). Is it plain or brocade?

Engine is interesting, no heater off take on head? odd? Also is distributor an S one? no vacuum canister / offtake.

Despite how 'orrible it looks, check things out carefully! You never know what you might have.

What does the floor look like where the original gearlever came out, magic wand spot or remote? Factory cut?

I don't see any R/H tank detail in boot and the green roof and other green paint suggests a more basic 850.

Hope this helps!

Had a good look around it over the weekend most certainley a basic shell.

Plain green seats have been found under the lovely "covers"!!

The tunnel has been hacked out for the remote box.

Even tho there is little remaining of the boot floor there isnt any evidence of boot brackets either.

The shell is pretty good actually retaining all original floors but sadly the body number is to crispy to get the number off :?:

The engine is a good seal unit so sadly untill stripped I can't really say much more about it.

What a cracking 70's freakin time machine!

You'll probably find the skeleton of fat freddie's cat somewhere in there.

Ha ha Maybe so but it must have starved to death as it never caught the mice that once lived under the rear re-upholstered Disco seats!!
