Still a bit confused as to were in the Appendix K regs it says that you cant use Hi-lo's ??
I really cant see what difference it makes if Im honest, the regs say that you should be able to pass a 100mm spacer block below the car..thats all, unless Im missing something?
Any body up North (Halifax) with a FIA car that they wouldnt mind me having a butchers at would be a great help at the moment, as Im trying to get my 970 sorted for next years U2TC series
Cheers.

Re: Hi-lo??
Hi-Los are a piece of piss to fit. Setting up a car on original trumpets takes time, patience, measuring, re-measuring, running in, re-fitting, more testing, bedding in. And in the end you may even get the racecar to go around a corner at speed without going straight on.
This is what sorts the men out from the boys and is part of the reason why a decent FIA car is worth up to £50k and a make-up-you-own-rules* historic car is worth £20-30 less.
NB. camshafts are free and H4s mandatory. I think you can use a Reece Fish but you'll go a lot slower. While we're on the subject....H4s are a whole load more work than a 40 or 45DCOE - another reason why your FIA car is worth more - it's more work invested but you will get it back.

P.S. U2TC are probably the strictest governing body when it comes to things like non-conformity. Ever travelled all the way down to Monza and been sent home after scrutineering? Well no, neither have I actually but it'll happen....especially after 12 Minis were all found to be bent at the Classic this year. To be honest, I don't blame you for being confused - when I started, I just tried to copy the far-and-away-out-in-front car, whose driver appeared to be chatting and getting on well with all the organizers but I think you'll find even that one was/is borderline.

Re: Hi-lo??
Thanks for that YMJ.
Will need to get the hacksaw out then! 8.9mm max on the rears I believe, but I suppose that depends on the drivers weight and the homologated car weight, which is 625kg I think.
Not sure If all these alloy trumpets are the same length, just in case I get carried away?
Then I need to get some serious track time in then to set the car up once its finished....
Getting back to U2TC, I got the impression that they are quite exited about having a 970s running in the under one litre class, even getting priority entries! At the moment they have a couple of Abarths that run regularly so should be interesting.
Just need time to finish the car now and a sale on one of my Kidneys to fund it.

Re: Hi-lo??
set the car up with hilos, trackday/test run to bed in, measure, then cut trumpets to size and swop over. Test again, fine tune with thin washers.
970 will be good and more reliable than the 1275s running for up to 60 mins.
