Sorry for my delayed answer.... been bussy for a while...

Anyway... I do have a NOS AEG 148 cam for the 1071( Pin drive ), as I want it to be as original as possible. but used a 276 degree cam on is for now( Kent cams) ... Know theese cams for many years with good experience
The final drive is the original 3.76 on my geabox....................

How is your project Scott????

Hi Rene
I'm looking for a suitable cam and had a few figured in but it seems everything I send to my engine builder is not good enough or slightly out of spec so a new cam is my only option. Something close to a MG Metro cam Vanden Plas is what I'm told would work well but I'm open to any ones opinion. I also will have go with a 2.76 diff again if I can find a replacement for my pinion is .001 shy. I ordered a full floor and front panel from M-Machine several days ago and it got lost in Belgium somewhere  Is there any fun in rebuilding these old cars or am I just having fun without realizing it? I'll get her there but not without suffering some major set backs.
I always enjoy your posts and diligence.

Hi Scott..

Sounds like your 1071 project is going well too.... Hope you will get you parts from M-machine soon. You make a correct choice to take a new cam, instead of something you don´t know how it´s been driven.... I´ll save my nos one for just in case...
And thanks for our kind words, allway nice to hear that :).

Ps, Did you find out anything on the other engine with gearbox Scott???

Best regards René

The man with the 1071 lump and shell is very hard to reach. I try every couple of weeks and I will today and keep you posted. Yes a new cam only makes sense how about swiftunes 05-07?
Thanks for your great post. Scott

Pardon me.
Regarding this one;
download/file.php?id=1189
Where can a comparable service kit be obtained? I have a booster that's been sitting around since 1981, and was told these kits are NLA and to just buy a new booster.

Hi..

Thats correct. They´re NLA, and quite hard to find.. I do have one more NOS for spares. Just in case.

But you can try JL spares.. They can help you on the rebuild...

I ordered seals and diaphram from JL a few months ago for a MK1 servo and they supplied it no problem.

Cheers

Hi JC...

Thanks for your always kind words. :)

Thats one of my best friends helping me.This job was too hard to do alone i think...

He´s a metalworker at Audi.. working daily on cars that cost so much, your ass will get hurt if you just do one thing wrong

But nice to get a little help from a proff, this job was like a piece of cake for him, compared to new cars

Its good to know people like that, I too had help, when the roof was changed on my Green Mini.

Know a thing or 2 about Audi ;) I am trained, and worked for 5 years as a mechanic at Audi.
My Father drove Audi,s for the last 14 years of his life.

Only yesterday my Nephew picked me up in one of these .

A little news from my project...

The bodywork is done, so the car have been outside the garage for a little ride ( On a trailer )...

The car have been sandblasted again, to make it completely clean. After that it was metallized, and then sprayed with a layer of epoxy all over....

Now it´s back again, and the next job for me it to put new sealing in the car.

After that, its off to the painter...
