At Least your camera is ok. Ha ha

Can't be the nices thing seeing smoke coming from your bonnet then having to pull the fire extinguisher,

the pistons were machined out to get lower compression, they were only about 4mm thick, It seems after several years of abuse and upping the power they finaly just yelled enough!

Thats one fast 998cc Mini 8-) shame about the piston :(

Hope the Black box on the bulkhead, survived the fluids from the fire extinguisher.

The damage is as follows:

No. 4 piston - fooked
No. 1 piston - Signs of failure
Slight damage to head chambers on No.2 and No.4 - no damage to valve seats
2 slightly bent exhaust valves
1 slightly bent inlet valve
Fire extinguisher goo everywhere
Crud in gearbox, but no damage

No damage to the ecu, it's a well IP rated box.

New pistons in the post, will all be back together for Gurston in August.

Extremely lucky.

P.S luckily my brother was thre in his new hillclimb mini (also 998 turbo) so I shared that. Here's some videos. Not as fast as mine, but it's not bad for it's first ouiting in anger.
