speedo question

Post by slowboy »

excuse my being confused / mistaken, do both austin and morris mk 1 minis have silver face speedos ?? basic and deluxe. i have this notion that morris are silver and austin are cream, what has thrown me is the speedo [which is 100% original to the car] in my "62 austin deluxe is silver, am i having a late forties moment

I seem to remember reading somewhere else on this forum that this has something to do with where the car was built. Ie, Austins built in the Morris factory had the Morris spedo and Vs.Vs.
Maybe someone else can find that post. (I'm at work)

i mentioned before that if an austin seven has an "M" at the end of the chassis number it will have a morris speedo,

also longbridge built minis lost the seven badge in jan 62
morris built "austins" kept the seven badge almost till summer 62!!!!!

there were very few morris built at longbridge though

if an earlymorris has a cream austin speedo,,its probably off another car
for my sins,i own a 1957 wolsleley 1500
