Roof lining/fixing points

Post by Matty »

Has anyone got a good picture of how the roof lining attaches to the top rail (is it similar to the mk3 fixings). My top rails need some work doing to them whilst my roof is off, and I don't want to weld up any holes that I need to fit the lining. :?

Cheers

A mk1 roof lining simply slots in above the cant rail, the only fixing holes are the two small ones where the two self tappers go through to hold it in place. These are roughly speaking above the B post.

Ah ok, so what part of the cant rail is visable when its fitted? Im gong to try and straighten the cant rail the best I can but if it isn't visable when the lining is fitted I'll leave the holes alone.

Will the wavey part show with the lining fitted?

You'll also know how many panels it needs then! :D

New floor should be with me next week...need to finish the roof first though or it may well collapse around me.

It will if you leave it like that! It needs to be fairly straight otherwise the roof lining frame wont sit properly against the rail.

Don't worry I won't be leaving them like that!

If its all going to show I guess these holes will need welding up too? They are above the rear quarter window and above the door?

Stupid questions I know, but just want to make sure its right before I weld the roof back on, and without a roof lining in my hand its difficult to picture how it fits.

Hi Matty the headlining sits flat in the recess above the red line I have put on your pic. All below the line is visable.
