Champion spark plug caps

Post by 66S »

Hi guys,
I have a set of original WCX600 caps for my '64. On these, the "Champion" within the bowtie symbol has been filled with white. Other caps of the same style (and repros) have the bowtie symbol painted white, leaving the "Champion" in black. Is this an early/late thing or were there two styles? In the photo of the originals, it is hard to see the white lettering but it showed up after a good clean.

Regards
Al

Watch out with those repros, I've had two were the brass part that the plug locates in has worked loose in the cap. I only noticed it when I went to remove the cap from the plug and the brass part stayed on the plug! :o
My next set of plug caps will come from that well known Japanese supplier.

Thanks for the warning. On the originals the part you are talking about screws into the base, maybe the ones you have have simply not been tightened properly.

There's no thread, so it is just a push fit. On one of them you could see where it had been arcing out.
