Longman 1275GT colour

Post by trevorhp »

Been asked by a friend:
What colour was the original blue car?
Look too bright for island blue BU08.
There were some brighter blues on Marinas I seem to recall
Thanks T

I’m sure the original colour would have Pageant Blue, but don’t ask me of the paint code number.

I don't think Pageant blue is correct. I think Tahiti blue (BLVC65) is the correct colour. To confuse matters, the name Tahiti blue was used again in the '90s as a darker metallic blue (BLVC965).

I think it is Pageant blue with the biscuit and dark grey deck chair interior.

I duly sent off the information to my friend (whose name is also Trevor which can be quite confusing)
He's decided on pageant blue anyway but thanks for all the input.
Can't wait to see it in Mighty Minis eventually, it could be the only clubman.

Definitely Tahiti Blue, Pageant was much lighter.

Assuming it's the car's original colour, it's Tahiti blue which arrived in very late 1974 to replace Teal blue and was replaced around August 1978 by Pageant blue.

Yes the same Tahiti Blue colour inside and out. The ‘78 season car is in remarkably original condition, ditto the ‘79 season car which has actually has a slightly earlier chassis number than the ‘78 season car which then leads me to think Longman had both cars from the end of 1977, beginning of 1978. (Happy to be corrected). Both cars pictured here when Longman won the first championship at Oulton Park in October 1978.
