Hi !
I have a exhaust which I am not sure where it belongs.
It looks a lot like S type, but is made by tubes in all sections and not "stamped" type. It also looks NOS, unused.
Are Cooper and S differents? I heard about difference in height, maybe also in tubes shape? I have attach a picture which seems to be using tubes and not stamped exhaust.
Thank you !

Re: Exhaust Identification
The engineering drawings for the Cooper and Cooper S exhaust manifolds (12A271 initially, then 12G615) specify 18 SWG Cold Drawn Seamless (CDS) steel tube to British Standard 980 so what you have looks to me like a genuine BMC part. It is unclear when the alternative type with pressed metal sides welded to form tubes was released into production.
According to the parts books the same manifold was used on the Cooper and the Cooper S.

Re: Exhaust Identification
Hi !!!
Many thanks for your feedback, I had came across with that thread but was unable to take a conclusion as all had were pressed steel.
Many thanks, in fact it is very well constructed and the "shape" looks pretty genuine.
Thank you for your reply

Re: Exhaust Identification
By the way, so this is a 12A271? That might be earlier than the pressed type? (I guess expensive?)
