"The tires are like new". Which means that it has not been driven due to faults and defects on the vehicle...

“ she was a museum exhibit”
“ The engine in ours here is very reassuringly the original engine too”
And so on …….

Re: Most Misused Advertisment Words
Here in Kiwiland folk often like to refer to advertised items as being in "mint" condition.
My experience of the word "mint" being used in relation to the sale of anything mini related is that the item will be anything but "mint" and should be avoided at all cost!

Re: Most Misused Advertisment Words
Picked up 3 alloy wheels (who sells 3 wheels?) same as on my wife's Fiat 500 for winter tyres. Came with tyres which the Facebook seller described as 'brand new'. Granted 2 of them do have good tread but the sidewalls are cracking and have a 2013 manufacture date. I'd never use them but they were only £50 for the 3 wheels so i dont care. As I was putting them into my car she was still bleating on about how good these brand new tyres were. I felt like pointing out 'they are not f'ing new' but thought what's the point?

Re: Most Misused Advertisment Words
Funny that you should say that Minor...... Someone came to see my low mileage, barely used 2001 red Rover Cooper Sport a couple of weeks ago. Pointed to the original, plenty of tread left, Dunlop 175/80x13 tyres and told me that they'd need replacing because they were more that 7 years old. MoT man told me that it was a load of bollocks. Apparently that's a technical phrase used in the motor industry for '.....he's not being totally honest with you me old mate...' And the 7 year rule only applies to PSV's

Re: Most Misused Advertisment Words
Yes understand what mot/psv might say but for second hand tyres of dubious condition I'd not be using them on a daily driver car.
My own Mini however has Camac cross plies on it with a 2012 manufacturers date but I put them on new, I know they haven't done 4000 miles in the last 11/12 years and I know they haven't been kerbed or driven with low pressure so I'm more than happy with those.
I have a twin axle caravan and change its tyres religiously every 5 years, worn or not. Caravan industry suggests change at 5, absolute maximum 7 years.
Having seen the devastation a blown out caravan tyre can cause I think it's wise practice.

Re: Most Misused Advertisment Words
Not quite an advertisment. In the eighties i had a unit next to a guy who sold cheap and cheerful cars.A rogue for sure but great company in the pub.
A lady arrived one day and a deal was made. She asked him several questions about the car,the last being is there any sort of guarantee with it.His
reply, stick to main roads, more people going by.The remark was totally lost on her but she left happy.
