Yet another rather special dead S
Worth wading through. McCartney's S it seems was comprehensively destroyed.

I had heard that story of McCartney's Radford having been involved in an accident but I'm sure the current owner in the U.S will be surprised to hear it was destroyed . You have to wonder where the writer got all that info as it's quite detailed but none of it's in quotes . He suggests that McCartney's Mini was quite unlike Jaggers, being coachbuilt which wasn't really the case as Jagger's was a Wood and Pickett job (as Epstein's was) so not that different. The story of the seat belt being caught under the wheel of a passing car sounds curious also as I would have thought McCartney's had the latest inertia reel belts ?

Well is the McCartney Mini a case of triggers broom?
Does the Jagger Cooper OGO live? It's not on the DVLA system..
They do look VERY alike to the layman. The period pic of Pauls car does not show the plate. Where's its wheels gone? Why's it on rosepetals?
How many Coopers did McCartney have? If one then one must ponder...

Thought this was goig to be about Ronnie MaCartney's Cooper S.
Back to photo. The car is fitted with Mk1 Cosmics, 4"x10. These were designed for drum braked minis and stick out a long way on Ss. Now the wheels in the photo don't stick out. So one has to suspect that Paul's car in the photo is not an S, but a 997 Cooper. Any other info on the history of Paul's mini buying?

Then spec a R/H tank on it?
So is the McCartney car a souped up Cooper non S? Or was 'cos it's meant to have been smashed to bits.

The McCartney S had rather special rear end lights which are still there - and its green not black so is someone getting confused or did he have an earlier car?

The (hidious) rear light clusters were off an Aston as I recall. The car is referred to as green in the article so that rings true. As for it being a Cooper, I can't imagine Radford using a humble Cooper for a star like McCartney in 1965 plus Radford did put Cosmics on George Harrison's Cooper S (which has now also got the completely wrong cheapo 'modern' alloys on it) , Radford also put Cosmics on George Best's Cooper S, Marianne Faithfull's and the Adam Adamant car. They do stick out a tad like D1's do but loads of S's had those on aswell, depends on tyres to some degree. I don't remember hearing of McCarney owning another Mini , maybe the black car referred to early in the article was Harrison's or even Lennon's ? I keep meaning to write an article about the Beatles/Epstein Minis though I think Steve B is going to tackle the subject in the MCR mag at some point as he is the man on this subject (and has owned one of em ! ).

Yes Linda,s car, was much later, and it is Pink (had the photos with me to Beaulieu last year)
Its still in the McCartney garage, and roumor has it, that its kept in full running order, with MOT & all

Yes, that's how the Mk1 cosmic sits on an S. Sodding nusiance when it's damp as the tyres edges throw spray over the windows and you've got to keep reaching into the centre dashboard to operate the wipers. Harison had an E type too (plus a Radford S). Then Jagger had an Aston!
Some more pics. The Epstein (then sold to Starr S) was also OGO thus W&P I will assume... 666E and 668E, they were prob reg'd on the same day. Don't quote me but I think Epstein supplied cars to celebs round that time as a sideline. In fact didn't Epstein have a few Coopers personally?
Moving on, I will then assume Starr got a Radford hatchback to put his drum kit in the back. Can someone clarify that?
Ringo's my fave Beatle!! I think I'd have to say the Beatles are my fave group. Not to mention indisputably the greatest group of all time!
Oh and Lennon had an S too. LGF696D as opposed to Harisons 695D. Same thing. Registered on the same day..
I think someone should write a correct piece on celeb Mini's...

Brydor motors came from Bryan Epstein and Terry Dorran.
Terry was a School friend of Brians who was set up to sell cars to all of the acts Brian managed, and probably their friends as well.
He was immortalized in the Beatles own words as “ the man from the motor trade” in Lennon’s Beatles song “She’s leaving home”.
The Black S (OGO 666E) in the Hawaii Beatles museum, use to belong to Epstein.

...and whilst we're at it the song 'Drive My Car' was NOT Paul singing about his Mini as has been reported, it was euphemism for rumpy pumpy ! i dont know about that, im pretty sure that 'mental' of yoko trumps the ones that mccartny married
its a pretty close run thing though, if only the guy who shot lennon had watched the wings christmas song video, history could have taken a different turn
