Could well be OE .. back in that day.. much stuff was "removed " from the Factorys or was sold direct to employees from the Factory Scrap Store ( this was my experience from the Cowley Plant at that time).
Those carpet bits were probably found in an ex Longbridge workers loft by his nok clearing out the house.
As Polar says. If you lived in or near Abingdon and owned an MGB, it was a good place to live. And owning an MGB GT V8 and wife with a roundarch Midget was a pleasant enough experience.
I bought a house from an ex BL employee who owned a Maxi. And yes, there was an attic full of Maxi trim. Least said, soonest mended - as he emigrated to Australia......., to work at Leyland Australia!

It appears the original BMC Veltone is thinner and has a rubber backing.
