So I assume 667 GFC had not made it onto the DVLA computer record when it was exported to Japan, even though it was still on the road in 1979?
Usually exported cars are still listed but shown with a Yes for 'Export Marker'....or are some exported cars deleted?

Was it not after 79 that the DVLA went computerised i thought it was the early 80's I rememebr i had not long got my first job in a local garage and it was a scamble for all the local garages to save old numbers though not everyone understoods the implications that were looming and log books would be lost for ever

Or perhaps i am just remembering the story as my boss told me and that time had already past probably lol..........

Reading this old forum thread linked below, it looks like new car registrations on the centralised DVLA computer record started in Autumn 1974 but the transfer of older vehicle 'paper' records to Swansea for computerisation from different areas of the UK took place over several years into the late 1970's with around 1980 as perhaps the final cut off date? Which could mean 667 GFC did not make it onto the computer database in that process, if it was exported to Japan soon after 1979.
