Exactly the hypocrisy is unbelievable. He is flying all over the place and even saying to the Americans on a recent trip , to come to London as it’s a a safe place ( not if you’re wearing a watch of value ) . Then he tells me I am killing everyone with my Ford transit exhaust fumes so I can’t go inside the M25 . BUT , if I pay £12.50 per day I have resolved myself of any responsibility for killing anyone with my exhaust fumes and I can then drive within the M25 . Let’s hope he gets voted out. Unfortunately I don’t get a vote but have to follow his rules . …. Shirley

London 'Pay-per-Mile' Road Charging
"A series of Freedom of Information (FoI) requests submitted to TfL reveal Sadiq Khan has invested £150 million of Londoners' money into technology he could use to monitor and tax motorists who use their cars. The scheme has been named “Project Detroit” and it’s a ‘road user charging’ platform which will be able to support the London Congestion Charge, Ulez, HGV permit scheme and will also support toll charges for the Blackwall and Silvertown tunnels. According to the FoI request, this system could also be adapted to support “other forms of charging based on distance, vehicle type etc” if TfL decided to implement such schemes in the future. The London Assembly launched a consultation on pay-per-mile road charging last year, describing it as having the potential to represent “the biggest change in how daily transport is paid since the introduction of Oyster and the Congestion Charge nearly 20 years ago”. A distance approach would see motorists pay depending on how far they drive, while the variable aspect could see differing fees applied depending on if a journey were for work, leisure, or the provision of essential services...."

Everyone in London knows what they need to do-as much as it might be painful for them, they have to vote for the conservative candidate-she has pledged to abolish Ulez, and hand the cameras over to the police for anpr.
Road pricing?-can you imagine the extortionate costs for HGVs? They already pay enough in road fund licence and fuel duty ffs-any road pricing costs will affect every single Londoner even if they don’t drive!
Any company operating lorries will pass this cost on to the end user obviously-London will suddenly become very very expensive for anything.
I used to love working and partying in London-I live half an hour away on the train, I hope I never have to set foot in our capital ever again

I live in London, no one likes Kahn, he is widely hated and I can't see how he will be re-elected.

True, very few people in London even seem to know who the other candidates standing for London Mayor are, as they rarely get featured in the mainstream media unlike in the days of Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson!

My relatives' transport business no longer serves London with the fresh produce it used to deliver. Satellite approaches have been developed where many, many vans take over outside of the capital. I cannot for the life of me imagine that this is a more sustainable approach?

It is simply about Khan staying in power, I honestly think he thinks hes a ruler he is not there to serve the public

He cant stop or fine the real pollution producers like Heathrow, because the people that vote for him are quite likely to work there and he would lose votes…..

So he picks on old cars, to show how he is fighting for his potential voters wellbeing…….

Sorry bit cynical……TBH, its hard not to get disillusioned with all politicians these days….

Update: Over one million Ulez fines issued to London residents since the scheme's 2023 expansion.
"More than one million Ulez fines have been issued to London residents since the scheme's expansion across all boroughs in August 2023, new data from Transport for London has revealed. According to a Freedom of Information request, more than 1.1 million penalty charge notices were sent to registered keepers of non-compliant vehicles across the capital's 33 boroughs between August 2023 and September 2024. Ulez revenue has risen significantly since the London-wide expansion, reaching £259.14million in the year to August 2024. The combined Ulez and LEZ schemes now generate over £271million annually in charges and penalties across Greater London, the FOI reported.
However, some drivers racked up substantial penalties, with one vehicle receiving 325 Ulez fines in the year following expansion - the highest number for a single vehicle. The number of unique vehicles receiving Ulez penalties was 460,825 in the year following the London-wide expansion."

I not going to reveal my registration number, but I have twice now been mistakenly charged on my 1990 Cooper, due to a ULEZ camera misread.

Using this example, my reg number is similar to this J24 ABC.

There is a vehicle that has gone past a particular camera and it’s some electric MG thing (not sure why it isn’t exempt!?) , it’s reg has an extra L at the beginning of the reg, so it’s LJ24 ABC.

The camera in question is behind a road sign, and on two occasions now it’s misread that reg as my reg instead. Despite TFL taking 5 images and at least one image shows the L, but mainly the images have the L obscured.

Luckily I have that vehicle set up on autopay, so I get charged on my credit card, rather than a fine in the post weeks later.

However to refund me, which TFL have done both times without question, after providing a photo of the front of my Cooper, they send a cheque in the post, the mind boggles!

Same meat, different gravy, I have a TWO letter FOUR number reg number and several rip-=off car parks in Oxford simply cannot decipher or interpret something out of the ordinary......such as TWO letters and FOUR numbers. It seems to be beyond them! So on leaving, because they can't register the car going IN, when leaving, the screen mentions a technical fault and promptly asks me to tell them what time I entered. Being an honest soul like all mini cooper forumers, I tell them............ About two minutes ago! And the barrier magically lifts
