Engine steady bush

Hi, are there different types of upper engine steady bar bushes, ie different size/width?

Early Minis up to Feb 1963 had this steady bar below with a larger rubber bush at the engine end.

SPQR and most car spares shops back in the day, also sold these two 'cone shaped' metal bushes below to 'upgrade' the rubbers, available for both before and after Feb 1963 Mini steady bars by replacing the straight metal bush fitted as standard.

If you want to drive the car (as opposed to open the bonnet and marvel at original bits), fit the later type upper engine steady and the latest MPI bush. Mine's done many thousands of miles now and only just started to move a bit. Contrast with the original which would last a couple of hundred miles before failing and making the exhaust leak!

On your rear bulkhead bush, you might find that the bolt part is stepped and to get to the bushes you have to take the top master cylinder tray off. Or as others have done, just cut through the stepped bolt. What a palaver! When it's out, replace it with the later standard dumpy bushes and straight bolt and nut.

I didn’t like the double ended stud at the firewall end. I swapped mine to be on the block end and then use a bolt & the metal sleeve at the firewall end
