Mk1 Door Pocket Liner

I am fitting the door pocket liners from Newtons to my Mk1. These go in the base of the pocket.
They have three holes in the based which I assume are used to secure the liner to the base of the door.
What screws were originally used, or were the rivets or some sort of fancy nail (which is what I pulled out)?

Just read the Parnell and Taylor books (again and again and again … )

Parnell indicates MK I door pockets had a “silver-grey cardboard liner”.

Taylor indicates MK II door pockets had a “black cardboard material”.

Newton Commercial provides “automotive quality fiberboard” in black and indicates they “can easily be painted”.

Can anyone report on the original liners taken from their minis … MK I & MK II.

My NZ built 1962 has fleck liners. Although someone painted them red!

Yes, I can confirm. My original MK1 liners were and still are grey.

So are mine - grey in a late 64 and mid 66 original cars. The small crews had cup washers didn't they?

You asked about Mk2's too. Mine were black.

When I fitted new, genuine BL/Unipart bottom liners to my S in 86 or so, I found that they didn't need the screws. After I'd bent the liners to shape and pushed them in they simply stayed in place. So suggest you don't waste time!

Made life easier during the summer when wifey spilled a half bottle of pop in the door pocket. After the massive domestic, just pulled the bottom liner out, lifted the main liner up an inch or so and sloshed some water in. Dried out and sprayed a good dose of Supertrol in for good measure.

November 62 Cooper:

Silverish/grey cardboard with 3 screws and Ordinary washers. These were never took out.

Mr car has Tartan red liners to match the original Tartan Red (now Tartan Orangey/Brown) door cards and I've not seen any evidence of them being screwed down.
