The Anglian auction price was probably about right. I’m surprised it’s not had some door roundels put on it, some aged Castrol stickers and a liberal coating of barn dust to bump up the bids.

At least they’re being honest, they could have just said “logbook will need to be applied for…”

Back in 1989 along with many others in the 1980's, the late Graham Robinson then vice-chairman of the 'Mini Cooper Register' decided to reshell his Mk2 Mini Cooper S using a standard Mk2 Mini Automatic he bought for £80 from a scrapyard as it had a good body but a broken auto transmission and was cheaper than restoring his original S shell. As detailed below in an extract from 'Classic and Sportscar' magazine in November 1992...

I found the shell for Graham it was very good for its age, it had gutter damage where it was picked up by the crane and was a sandy beige colour. The original shell was unbelievably rusty even the 4 rolled seams were splitting open with the rust. Would the shell have been saved today...
