Morris Cooper S - GRX 222
https://www.carandclassic.com/l/C1594948
This looks quite interesting, albeit always a worry when there’s been a change of number plate. Will have to ensure it’s genuine. Comes with some lovely period parts.
Anybody know anything about it?

Well that's a positive. Thanks Mark.
Seller says it was bought from a Mrs Wood.
Some forensic research needed......

Re: Morris Cooper S - GRX 222
Berkshire County Council, hence the RX part of the GRX number plate were always(?) thoughtful when re-allocating a number and would consider a request. When I wanted to change my H registered Cooper S number for an old 1931 number from an old Riley, I paid the £5 fee and politely asked Berkshire Taxation Office (in Valpy Street if anyone remembers it.....) if they would allocate the old Riley with a number that would reflect its great age.
More than happy to oblige, the 1931 number was transferred to MY car, while the old Riley was allocated a number that reflected its age...... BL55!

I think it was the wing covers for when you are working on the car, not the 59 style muck deflectorsminimk1man wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 4:09 pm Gordon does them. https://shop.catmint.biz/product-category/mini/

Re: Morris Cooper S - GRX 222
Hi All
I bought GRX 222 in October 2023. It is a genuine Mk1 Cooper S that was restored by Paul Page a well known collector of cars in 1979. It was built on 1 March 1967 and first registered on 15 March 1967 as GTL 444E by Holland Brothers, Sleaford , Lincs. I obtained this information from the Lincolnshire Archives that retain the records from the VROs at Kesteven (which issued GTL444E) and Kelsey which dealt with registering vehicles before DVLA took over. I had one hell of a tussle with DVLA to accept this but finally they relented and the correct details are now on the V5C.
Paul Page sold GTL 444E to a dealer who passed it on to Gillian Wood in 1980. She already had the number GRX222 on a standard Mini and switched it to the Cooper S . She sold the car to Oliver Friend who sold it to me. My task now is to track down the former owners of GTL 444E. The car spent all its years in or around Lincoln. Does anyone remember GTL 444E between 1967 and 1979 or know who may have owned it?
