Door Hinge Free Play Amount

Post by cobolman »

I'm working on the door of my mini, which has the external hinges.

As I do so, I find that the hinges seem to exhibit quite a lot of free play at the door end of the hinge. Are there any recommendations on the amount of free play there should be?

Thanks.

This thread below on the 'new door hinge' or 're-bush the originals' options may be of help:-

Thanks, mab01uk. I visited the minisport website and ordered some bushes and pins (and a new set of hinges, just in case) :D

I say, as an engineering type, that there should be NO free play in a properly set of adjusted or rebuilt set of door hinges If there is, they;re wrong

Which might explain why mine, one of which has about 10mm free play when measured at the free door end, won't hold the door up enough for me to adjust it properly
