Ha, yes. "A friendly International fourm for lovers of BMC's slow and noisy small cars"

Just spent a pleasant hour taking off the old mirrors and fitting the right ones on the wings. Bill B very kindly sent me a lead on where to get a set of them in the matt black finish, but sadly they had none left, but a pall down south messaged me to say 'it's not these ones you want, is it?', with a photo of exactly the right ones! Bonus is they were free :-)

So, very careful measuring (as opposed to the BMC dealer 'as long as it's on') and I think it looks much better for the change.

Drivers side top hinge has loosened again, so not technically smy nearer to finished of course. Does everyone get the fear doing hunger bolts? I always feel they are half a twist from shearing....

And this morning I went over to the lock up and helped my pal extract the yellow one, and it is now in it's new home, being stripped for work as I type

I am sure many of you will, like me, have had significant concerns over rooster tails of tsunami, nay, biblical, proportions, should I ever unleas the power of the mighty 850 in the rain.

Worry no longer my friends, for today I fitted a set of Mr Forster's flaps. Phew!

And don't they look ace?

HI folks, First of all, sorry one of the Mods has been so absent in recent weeks, and so soon after the recent forum changes - life has rather gotten in the way - Ongoing separation, house sale, new job..... you get the jist. I hope to be back to normal soon, but these things rather drag us away from the fun stuff.

So, it also means the van has sadly not seen as much use as I'd hoped of late. I hope to find a new place in the new year, and a garage is high on the list of essentials!

But I am also conscious that the cooling system has always been a bit iffy, with it occasionally using a fair bit of water, other times not. So, I think for peace of mind, I want to change the radiator and water pump, which with the fixed grill will, I am sure, be a complete joy in a van, NOT! the digital thermometer implies it is not actually overheating, so I suspect a tiny leek somewhere, and as it doesn't always do it, I doubt it's the head gasket.

it's basically a standard 850, but I wonder if it is worth it anyway to go for this one from our favourite friendly supplier of treasures: https://minispares.com/product/Classic/ ... 0to%20shop

but does anyone know if the Mk1 shroud will fit (Oh the joys of fitting the shroud!)

I previously fitted the 4 core one to my old Mk1 and I remember it being a right pain in the hoop to fit - are these ones any easier?

Yes, I fitted one of those to my 1071 and the original shrouds and fixings were a straight swop. I did change the top tank to the early spec to keep the purists happy though.

Al, I think you need not bother with the 2 core? Just an overhaul on the original rad (dependent on pricing in your area) not had any temp issues on our 998 Van with standard rad.
